Praise the Creator

One of the things the Psalms do is teach us how to pray. In this particular one, the writer is praising God for his creation. Even if you feel very little is going well in your life, you can do the same.

When we praise God for creating majestic things, it reminds us that he is powerful enough to help us with our big problems. When we praise God for creating intricate things, it reminds us that he understands what we’re going through.

When we praise God for creating pleasant things, it reminds us that he cares about us. God did not have to make anything in life enjoyable. The fact that he did tells us about him.

You might not think of the same things this Psalmist did. But if you start a time of prayer by thinking through the good in God’s creation, you might come to the same conclusion.

“I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being. My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord.”

That is exactly how I feel when I think of the Sierras, giant sequoias, ocean breezes, and beautiful spring days. How about you?
